Butterick Lisette B6385 – Part 1

Hello all,

Last year Butterick’s Fall/Winter collection included B6385 and I bought it straight away.  It is a straightforward and elegant long coat that has three collar variations, pocket flaps (something new for me) and some lovely top stitching detail.

Some New Online Friends and V9183

Hello all,

I happened upon a lovely group of inspirational sewing folks via my Facebook feed earlier this summer.  The focus of this group is to work through a defined list of sewing patterns with the intent of sharing tips, hints, ideas and creative comradery.  A new pattern is selected each month and as the members complete theirs, they post their thoughts on fabric selection, alterations and progress pictures with the end result of showing their completed garment.  You can jump in and do one challenge, or all of them – it is entirely up to you.

It is always amazing to me that with social media we have such a wonderful way of connecting with like minded people around the world.  It has certainly enriched my life.

Vogue 9154 Misses Skirt Is A Winner

Hello all,

I have seen a few renditions of Vogue 9154 on Sewing Pattern Review and have had the pattern for a few months now.  Last weekend, as it was cold and rainy, I tucked myself in my sewing room and made this skirt with some navy wool that had been purchased last season.   I truly could not be happier with the result.
Here is the pattern envelope picture for Vogue 9154.  I made View A.

Savage Coco Patterns – Presto Popover Top

Hello all and Happy New Year!

I hope that 2016 is off to a great start for everyone.  It is hard to believe that we are mid month already.

My sewing buddies have been flashing many wonderful iterations of the Presto Popover Top, and not wanting to be left out, I bought the pattern…two months ago.  I printed it, cut it out, found some lovely black jersey knit, laid all my pieces out, and that is where it stalled while I flew around in full on Holiday mode.

Textile Studio Patterns Basic Top + McCalls 6996 = A Great Twinset

Hello all,

A few days ago, I ventured to my local Fabricland for some buttons to complete my green linen shirt that I wrote about here.  “Buttons only!”, I said to myself as I drove there.  And then, “It’s like two cardigans and a top for $100”, was the justification for the cuts of fabric laying on my back seat as I drove home again.

But can you blame me?  Just look at this lovely knit.

Sunday Power Sewing and Stash Busting – New Look 6838

Hello all,

Down in my sewing room, I have three Rubbermaid totes full of fabric along with several bags of additional yardage piled on top, tucked in to drawers and hanging in closets.  Now, I know that some of you will read that and say “Pfft…what a Rookie!” however the disorganization of it is what is bothering me, more than the quantity.  I stopped myself from going out to buy an additional tote with the intent that I am going to figure out a better system.  Please feel free to let me know of any ideas you may have.

Hello all,

My local Fabricland was working through their annual inventory and had most everything on sale last week.  I have a bit of a soft spot for polka dots.  So when I spied two blouse weight rayon blends in cream and black, I knew straight away that they needed to come home with me.  Stand up and be counted?  Nay my spotted beauties, I’ll rescue you.
