MacPhee Workshop – AWEsome Jacket

Posted on by 0 comment

Hello all,

While poking about at my local Fabricland the other day for some denim, (StyleArc’s Italia Shirtdress is on the roster, but more on that another day) I happened upon this gem…

It’s a knit on the outside which is brushed to a fleece on the inside.  It looks quite grey in the picture above but it is actually many shades of blue.  With only the thought that a cardigan was going to be the end product, I dug through my boxes and bags of patterns and pulled out The AWEsome Jacket pattern from MacPhee Workshop.

Textile Studio Patterns Basic Top + McCalls 6996 = A Great Twinset

Hello all,

A few days ago, I ventured to my local Fabricland for some buttons to complete my green linen shirt that I wrote about here.  “Buttons only!”, I said to myself as I drove there.  And then, “It’s like two cardigans and a top for $100”, was the justification for the cuts of fabric laying on my back seat as I drove home again.

But can you blame me?  Just look at this lovely knit.

Sunday Power Sewing and Stash Busting – New Look 6838

Hello all,

Down in my sewing room, I have three Rubbermaid totes full of fabric along with several bags of additional yardage piled on top, tucked in to drawers and hanging in closets.  Now, I know that some of you will read that and say “Pfft…what a Rookie!” however the disorganization of it is what is bothering me, more than the quantity.  I stopped myself from going out to buy an additional tote with the intent that I am going to figure out a better system.  Please feel free to let me know of any ideas you may have.

McCalls 6436 – A Half Hearted Effort Equals a Mediocre Blouse

Well hello all,

What an unplanned and extended sewing hiatus that was!  I am so glad to be getting back into a sewing groove.

My very small sewing room is in a little carved out niche of our lower level.  It’s lovely and cool in the summer for sewing.  (A bit of a meat locker in the winter, but that is another story).

It is however, adjacent to where my son has built himself quite a man cave with his game consoles, my old computer desk and some even older sofas from my parents.  He is as happy as a clam which is wonderful, but in the summer when school is out, the sounds of the games and the gathering of his buddies had the effect of driving me out.

Hello all,

My local Fabricland was working through their annual inventory and had most everything on sale last week.  I have a bit of a soft spot for polka dots.  So when I spied two blouse weight rayon blends in cream and black, I knew straight away that they needed to come home with me.  Stand up and be counted?  Nay my spotted beauties, I’ll rescue you.

Hello all,

Have you ever hurried home after buying a new shade of lipstick, nail polish or other item only to try it on, step back and say “what on earth was I thinking?”

Meet seersucker plaid.

I think I was having a Betty Draper, Mad Men moment when I spied the fabric in the store.  Truly, it looked so cute on the bolt and was on sale to boot.  How could I go wrong?  …far too easily it would seem.
