McCalls 6436 – A Half Hearted Effort Equals a Mediocre Blouse
Well hello all, What an unplanned and extended sewing hiatus that was! I am so glad to be getting back into a sewing groove. My very small sewing room is in a little carved out niche of our lower level. It’s lovely and cool in the summer for sewing. (A bit of a meat locker in the winter, but that is another story). It is however, adjacent to where my son has built himself quite a man cave with his game consoles, my old computer desk and some even older sofas from my parents. He is as happy as a clam which is wonderful, but in the summer when school is…

Simply Dotty for McCalls 6563
Hello all, My local Fabricland was working through their annual inventory and had most everything on sale last week. I have a bit of a soft spot for polka dots. How could I go wrong? …far too easily it would seem.

Hello all, A few years ago, McCalls put out M2401 which on the surface is a run of the mill sheath pattern. A front, cut on the fold with darts at the bust and down the abdomen, two darted back pieces, and sleeves…or not. Where the clever folks at McCalls really did us a good turn was with the number of options and combinations that they put into the one envelope. Have a look:

The Balancing Act of Sewing With a Plan and Wardrobe Building
Hello all, As a member of a few sewing groups and forums, and an active user of Pinterest, I find myself repeatedly drawn to threads and boards which speak about Wardrobe Building. Until quite recently, I was like many others with a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear, or I would continually wear the same outfits while others were years old; never seeing the light of day. I did a big purge with the intent of changing the way I shop and sew as sadly for me, the last donation I made to our local Goodwill included garments that still had the sales tags attached.
